NAWT helps grant Frankie’s wish to cuddle as many dogs as possible!

The National Animal Welfare Trust is proud to have been part of making a young boy’s wishes come true, as he was granted a VIP ticket to Crufts for the day.

Frankie Sheridan-Hill, 9, from Ware, suffers from HABC Leukodystrophy, which is a life-limiting neurological disease.  With a dream of meeting and cuddling as many dogs as he could in one day, his physiotherapist contacted Make-A-Wish® UK on behalf of his family to ask if they could make it happen.

Make-A-Wish approached the team at NAWT Hertfordshire to see if we could help, and we were delighted to be able to get involved to find a solution for this very brave young man. Whilst we weren’t able to facilitate a suitable environment for such a day within the rescue centre itself, we were able to utilise contacts within the Kennel Club to organise something extra special for him. With the support of our friends at the Kennel Club, we were able to grant Frankie’s wish, with the most amazing day as a VIP guest at Crufts on Sunday the 9th of March.

Frankie had the most wonderful day  handing out some rosettes in the good citizen ring and meeting and cuddling a wide range of different breeds. Frankie was accompanied by his brother Rory, and his parents, who where overjoyed to see their son receive an invitation. They said:

“We got back from Crufts last night and Frankie had such a wonderful time! Steve at NAWT and Heidi from the Kennel Club made his day so very special. He met Clare Balding and watched some filming, met loads of dogs and judged the go to bed and tunnel of temptation. He had such a wonderful day thank you so much!"

Special thanks to the Kennel Club and everyone at Crufts who was involved in helping us to make Frankie’s wish come to life. We were delighted to be part of this collaborative effort between multiple charities and organisations to grant such a precious wish.
